Mr. Mushakoji Minoru purchased this Buddhist painting 15 years ago in Kyoto. Painted in the pattern of an illustrated map, it features a temple on Mount. Wutai in Shanxi Province, China and shows the style of the Qing Buddhist painting.
Mt. Wutai is worshipped as a sacred land in Buddhism as it is the home of the bodhisattva of wisdom, Manjushri.
