This series of twenty-five paintings documents the sea route taken by the chief Joseon envoy, Yi Deokhyeong, and other members of the Joseon court as they traveled to the Ming court in 1624 to inform them about the coronation of King Injo. At the end of the album, Yi Deokhyeong wrote that the paintings were produced in order to help guide future envoys who would make similar sea journeys. The album is an important resource demonstrating maritime exchange between Joseon and Ming during the transitional period leading up to the founding of the Qing Dynasty.
