The worship of Ganesha in Cambodia dates back to the Pre-Angkhor period, before 802 CE. This Ganesha statue demonstrates the late 10th century style. Compared to precedents, the form of this sculpture is still somewhat rigid and formal, but the face and body retain more softness and pliability. Ganesha is wearing a jeweled crown, along with a lower garment that has many creases. This garment is flared out around the waist, with a multi-tiered extension covering the groin.
