The body of this ewer appears as if it were made with joined strips of split bamboo. A bamboo-shaped spout and handle pieces are attached to the body. Various types of vessels modeled after plants and animals were created in the early 12th century when Goryeo celadon reached its zenith. This piece was unearthed near Gaeseong, the ancient capital of Goryeo, and was housed in the Yi Dynasty Museum. Its glaze is a translucent light blue with slight bubbles, but there is virtually no fine crackling.
