This is an early example of celadon inlaid with a crane design. As the bird symbolizes a noble spirit and longevity, it appeared frequently on inlaid celadon ware. The body is decorated with clouds (in the shape of the Chinese character “之”) drifting through a blue sky while cranes fly freely between the clouds. These elegant designs showcase an aspect of the Goryeo aristocracy lifestyle.
