Desks such as this one were originally used by Buddhist monks when reading Buddhist scriptures at a temple, but they came to be adopted as reading desks in Korean traditional houses. This one has a drawer fitted with vertical rods on each of its sides to support the frame. This desk features a simple design with a minimal amount of ornamentation, and legs shaped like bamboo joints and decorated with a scroll design.
