This gilt-bronze standing Buddha displays features unique to the eighth century, such as chubby cheeks, an austere facial expression, and the folds of the robe. The two-tiered cranial protuberance is rarely found among other Buddha statues. One end of the robe is tied with a string and hung over the left forearm, a particular feature that emerged in the late eighth century (Unified Silla period). The forms of the lapel and the robe folds near legs appear also to follow the mode of this century.
