This stone seated Vairocana Buddha, complete with pedestal and mandorla, is a typical Buddhist statue of the late Unified Silla period. It is presumed to have been discovered in the Gyeongsang Province area, given that the low cranial protuberance, conch-shaped hair, well-defined face, shape of the pedestal and mandorla, are all similar to those on other Buddhist statues found at Cheongnyongsa Temple in Yecheon, Ganwolsa Temple in Ulsan, and Bulgoksa Temple in Changwon.
