This is a collection of paintings depicting Kim Gye-un’s struggle against wild winds and foaming waves on his return from a diplomatic trip to Takeshima in 1856 (the 7th year of King Cheoljong’s reign), and the poems of others on this painting. Yu Suk (1827-1873) produced the painting in the summer of 1858 (the 9th year of King Cheoljong’s reign). The collection also contains messages from several leading figures including Choe Si-yeong, Gwak Jong-gu, and Yuan Shikai.
