This declaration was hand-written by Yun Bong-gil, a Korean patriotic fighter and member of the Korean Patriot Corps, in front of Kim Koo (1876-1949), head of the organization, shortly before taking action at Hongkou Park (today’s Lu Xun Park) where a special gathering would take place on April 29, 1932 to celebrate the birthday of the Japanese emperor Hirohito. The declaration reads: “I agree to become a member of the Korean Patriot Corps and to fight for the independence and freedom of my fatherland.”
