This iron cauldron was discovered at the site of Gueui-dong Fort, a Goguryeo military base on the north bank of the Han River. Upon discovery, the cauldron was still in its original position, atop an ondol cooking stove. These types of cauldrons were probably used with a steamer, so it would seem that the Goguryeo forces cooked at least some of their food by steaming it.
