Semi-lunar stone knife

Semilunar stone knives are farming tools that were widely used during the Bronze Age, reflecting the advanced degree of stone production technology of that period. To produce such knives, grooves were made in thin flat pieces of stone, such as slate. The grooved pieces were then cut to the appropriate size, polished, and drilled with two holes at one end, where a string was tied to provide a better grip. The use of stone knives expanded in the Bronze Age with the rise of rice farming, but they were gradually replaced by iron tools. Although they are collectively referred to as “semilunar knives,” rectangular and triangular versions have been found in different regions.
