Gold Crown Cap and Ornament
This gold crown cap from Geumgwanchong Tomb in Gyeongju is made from several attached sheets of gold. Each sheet was cut with various beautiful openwork patterns, including small holes shaped like upside-down hearts.
The crown cap ornament was found in the South Mound of Hwangnamdaechong Tomb. It consists of three attached gold sheets, one forming the central spine and two forming the wings, which resemble the tail fins of a fish. The entire surface of the ornament was decorated with round spangles that were attached with gold thread, with the exception of the lower part of the central spine, which is bent to fit into a slot on a crown cap.
