Gyeongguk daejeon(Great Code of National Governance)
Gyeongguk Daejeon, or Complete Code of National Governance, is the official law book of the Joseon Dynasty, containing 319 provisions that formed the legal foundation of the society. Its compilation began during the reign of King Sejo, and was completed around 1485, under King Seongjong, after extensive revisions and the integration of pre-existing regulations from Jeong Dojeon’s Joseon Gyeonggukjeon, Jo Jun’s Gyeongje Yukjeon, and other texts. The Complete Code of National Governance is divided into six codes for the six Joseon ministries: Personnel, Taxation, Rites, Military Affairs, Justice, and Public Works.
