Uigwe for the Royal Wedding of King Hyeonjong and Queen Myeongseong

This Uigwe book documents the wedding process of Queen Jangryeol’s grandson King Hyeonjong, then the crown prince, and the crown princess, who later became Queen Myeongseong. At this wedding, which was the first royal wedding since the wedding of King Injo (1638) the number of people in the procession, as well as the composition and quantity of the ceremonial regalia, was larger than at King Injo’s wedding. The 18-page banchado illustration details in what manner the regalia was arranged for crown princesses.
