Uigwe for Bestowing an Honorary Title upon Queen Jangryeol
This Uigwe book, designed for royal perusal, still retains its original characteristics, such as the book cover made of green silk, binding plates made of exquisite brass, and chrysanthemum-shaped ornaments. This book was produced following a ceremony to confer an honorary title on Queen Jangryeol on her 61st birthday in 1686. An honorary title (jonho) refers to a title granted to members of the royal family in recognition of their remarkable accomplishments or auspicious occasions.
