Du Fu’s Poem Written by Yi Gwangsa

This album is a compilation of calligraphy by Yi Gwangsa (1705–1777), a renowned calligrapher of the late Joseon period. It mostly contains Chinese poems by the Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu (712–770) in various calligraphic styles, including seal, clerical, regular, running, and cursive scripts. Notably, there are red annotations next to the poems written in seal script.
The album leaves presented here display Du Fu’s poem “Traversing Lake Dongting” written in seal script, specifically a trembling ancient seal script, which conveys poetic sentiment and offers visual delight.
