In this painting, eight horses are taking a leisurely rest by the water with overhanging willow trees. “Paljun” in the title of the painting refers to eight outstanding horses. This work features the eight horses that helped Yi Seonggye (r. 1392–1398), or King Taejo, found the Joseon Dynasty.
