The Lotus Sutra is the most widely read Buddhist sutra in East Asia. According to the colophon on the last page of this book, it was published in 1638 at Yeongjeongsa Temple in Miryang. The composition of the illustration on the forefront page is identical to that of the Lotus Sutra published in 1607 at Songgwangsa Temple in Suncheon. This suggests that the book might have been printed using re-engraved versions of early-seventeenth-century woodblocks.
