Avalokiteshvara

Avalokiteshvara, the merciful savior of sentient beings, is sitting here on an oddly shaped rock inside a dark grotto. His gaze reaches toward the Dragon King and Dragon Princess, who are worshipping the deity. Sudhana wearing double topknots stands atop a small rock with his hands together and faces Avalokiteshvara. In the middle of the lower section of the painting is an inscription. This painting was produced by the monk-painter Jehan, who worked in Gyeongsang-do Province from the late eighteenth century until the nineteenth century.
