Clerical Script

Jeong Hakgyo was a calligrapher who excelled at cursive and clerical scripts. He was celebrated for skillfully painting bamboo, orchids, and particularly rocks. This couplet in clerical script shows variations on his typical clerical script with its sensible brushwork. The unrefined yet graceful calligraphic style of the Stele School of Qing Dynasty China stands out in this work.
