This ewer is comprised of an abundant body for holding liquids (such as alcohol), a handle, and a spout. The body is modeled after a gourd, while the lid and handle are respectively inspired by lotus leaves and stems. The body is intricately incised with designs of lotus flowers and petals. Elegant curves and a subtle jade-green hue blend harmoniously in this example of sculptural celadon.
