The center of this bowl is decorated with a scene featuring fish, waterfowl, lotus flowers, reeds, and boys that was impressed in low relief using a mold. The animals, plants, and human figures blend naturally to create a lyrical scene. Children holding a lotus bud or stem was a popular motif also observed in metal crafts from the period.
