Bowl with Parrots

This is a bowl with its interior adorned with parrot designs. During the Goryeo era, parrots were rare and exotic animals to such a degree that merchants from Song Dynasty China presented them as gifts to the Goryeo royal family. The finely developed beak and long tail of the parrots are delicately depicted using incising on the surface of the refined clay body, which was then coated with thin glaze.
