Rice bale–shaped Bottle with Fish, Buncheong ware painted in underglaze iron–brown

A janggun refers to a rice bale-shaped cylindrical vessel with an attached mouth that was used for holding liquids. Production of this vessel type ceased during the Goryeo dynasty, but was revived in the Joseon era. Above the rolling waves is a fish painted in iron oxide.
The expression of varying tones with the pigment is exquisite. The top and sides of the vessel are decorated with floral designs.
