This white porcelain jar with a globular body coated in a light gray glaze is decorated with motifs that appear to be bamboo and clouds painted in a free-spirited manner in iron-brown underglaze. With the turn of the seventeenth century, the production of full-bodied round white porcelain jars increased in both the official court kilns and their provincial counterparts. These jars were adorned with designs reflecting regional characteristics, thereby serving as evidence of the trends in seventeenth century provincial white porcelain production.
