Clay Bodhisattva
In 1937, about three hundred clay Buddhist statues were discovered from a temple site in Wono-ri, northwest of Pyeongyang. The long, slender hands and feet and the details of the robe indicate that the statues were Goguryeo Buddhist sculptures. Further excavations in nearby Toseong-ri uncovered clay molds that were likely used to mass-produce these statues of Buddha and bodhisattva.
