Hanging Incense Burner

Hanging Incense Burner
This incense burner has a round body, a semi-spherical lid with a hole, and a cloud-shaped handle. It was discovered at a temple site in Chungung-dong, Hanam, Gyeonggi Province. Other incense burners with handles similar to this one have been found at various sites, including Beopcheonsa Temple site in Wonju; Sanoesa Temple site in Cheongju, and Dobong Seowon in Seoul. Incense burners with a cloud-shaped handle are estimated to have been used in special Buddhist rituals, such as the ritual for Amitabha Buddha.
