Mexico's Day of the Dead Offering!
Do you know this Mexican festival that inspired the film 'Coco'?
With the opening of World Art Gallery last year, National Museum of Korea is trying to introduce various cultures around the world. In collaboration with the Embassy of Mexico in Korea, we are presenting a pop-up exhibition of 'Day of the Dead Offering'.
The Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) lasts from October 31 to November 2 every year in honor of deceased family member and friends. It is quite similar to Korean traditional ceremony 'Jesa' in terms of preparing food and drinks for their loved ones. The Day of the Dead is also designated as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO for its symbolic value and ancestral characteristics.
Join us to experience Mexican festival altar with flowers, toys and traditional decorative creations handcrafted by various communities of Mexico - including 'Papel picado' (colored paper), specially designed and produced by artisans from Huixcolotla, Puebla!
ㅇ Event Period: October 31 - November 8, 2020
