NMK is the Ninth Most Visited Museum in the World for 2011
according to "Exhibition & Museum Attendance Figures 2011” released by The Art Newspaper
According to the annual survey of world museums by the UK’s The Art Newspaper, the National Museum of Korea attracted 3,239,549 visitors in 2011, making it the ninth most visited museum in the world. In addition, the special exhibition The Return of the Oegyujanggak Uigwe from France: Records of the State Rites of the Joseon Dynasty (July 18 - Sep 18, 2011) ranked 54th in the world for average daily attendance.
The survey shows that the five most popular museums in the world in 2011 were the Louvre Museum, Paris (8.88 million visitors); the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (6 million); the British Museum, London (5.85 million); the National Gallery, London (5.25 million); and Tate Modern, London (4.8 million).
