Donated Collection 2: Safeguarding and Donation of Cultural Heritage
During the extreme turmoil Korea experienced in the twentieth century, such as the Japanese colonial occupation and the Korean War, many cultural heritages were either damaged or removed from the country. There were some people who struggled in these events attempted to safeguard the cultural heritage that was at risk of being lost. People endeavored to protect the treasures passed down within their clans for generations, and retrieve cultural properties that had been taken abroad. Such efforts of the people who protected the heritage led to the donations made by their descendants to the museum, which their precious intentions continue to shine in this new context.
