Dongui Bogam

Dongui Bogam (Principles and Practices of Eastern Medicine) is a comprehensive medical treatise compiled by the royal doctor Heo Jun, by the order of King Seonjo. Referencing existing Korean and Chinese medical books, Dongui Bogam is an encyclopedia of Eastern medicine, with detailed entries on specific symptoms and treatments. The beginning of the book includes illustrations of the organs and lists of their characteristics, providing a concise summary of Heo Jun’s knowledge about practicing medicine. Dongui Bogam was widely read and utilized, not only in Korea, but also in China and Japan.
