Dish with Poem, White Porcelain written in underglaze cobalt-blue

This white porcelain dish is inscribed with a poem in cobalt-blue underglaze. The poem is related to liquor, and the dish is presumed to have been used as a saucer. This piece nicely exhibits the decorative characteristics of the Joseon blue-and-white porcelain that reflect the tastes of the royal court and sadaebu (the ruling class of scholar-officials).

On a cold moonlit night, Tao Yuanming is lying drunk in a bamboo valley,
While Li Bai sleeps in the fragrant breeze that blows from the flower market.
Since all worldly affairs are like a dream,
We can become drunk without a single sip of wine.
