Vase with chicken head-shaped spout
This is a long-necked vase with a dodecagonal shape and a mouth shaped like a chicken’s head. The curves of the mouth assume the form of a chicken's body, and naturally lead to a handle expressed as the chicken's tail. This vase adheres to the classical form of white porcelain in a transparent and light color without any pattern, but its neck bears the effect of gently emanating color and patterns through the bold application of the hukizumi color-painting technique of scattering blue pigments with a sprayer, which was first developed in the Edo period.
