Once used to preserve or store alcoholic beverages, most of the remaining prunus vases no longer have a lid. It appears that the lid of this particular vase was also used as a cup. Its top and sides are decorated with inlaid crane and cloud designs. The mouth of the vase and the rim of its mounting are decorated with a white inlaid band of thunder designs, while the shoulders show a white slip inlaid band featuring an Anuruddha-head design. The remaining parts are inlaid with cloud and crane designs.
