This iron seated Buddha statue has curly hair and a large, flat cranial protuberance. Its forehead has a large hole for the “white tuft of hair.” The Buddha’s robe is draped over his left shoulder. This type of statue displays the traditional realistic style of Unified Silla, and served as a model for numerous iron Buddha statues produced in the Goryeo Period.
