This collection of poems contains a series of reciprocal poems exchanged between a Ming envoy named Ni Qian and three eminent scholars of Joseon, namely, Seong Sam-mun (1418-1456), Shin Suk-ju (1417-1475), and Jeong In-ji (1396-1478), all of whom served in the Jiphyeonjeon (Hall of Worthies) during the 15th century. The poems are rich with information about ongoing cultural exchanges between Joseon and Ming resulting from the dispatch of envoys. The handwritings of the three scholar-statesmen are also highly regarded as a reliable source of knowledge on the calligraphy of early Joseon.
