Hair can be seen on the head of this pensive bodhisattva, but the three holes at the front and sides lead to the assumption that it was originally adorned with a crown. It shows an oblong face with a round chin, and the upper body is thin and stretched. While presumably people in a pensive mood would be likely to lower their head, this one holds its head upright, which causes the right arm touching the right cheek to be disproportionately long. This statue is distinguished from other Buddhist statues in a similar posture by being seated on a spacious, high rectangular pedestal. The overall static atmosphere and the unique shape of the pedestal appear to display the aesthetic sensibilities of Baekje.
