During the Goryeo Period, some celadon incense burners were produced by copying the shape of ancient Chinese cauldrons called ding (鼎). The body of this incense burner was made by joining rectangular-shaped clay plates. Four short legs decorated with an elephant’s eye design and two square vertical ears are attached to the body. The entire body is decorated with thunder designs, while its upper and lower parts are inscribed with designs of imaginary creatures.
