English Guided Tour Offered During Late Saturday night at
National Museum of Korea
National Museum of Korea will offer guided tours in English for international visitors every Saturday night starting March 17, 2007 as a part of late nights programs.
Visitors should gather in front of the Information Desk at the Permanent Exhibition Hall at 6:30 PM on every Saturday night to participate in the hour-long English language guided tour. The tour guide will lead the visitors through the galleries highlighting the key objects from the permanent collections. Korean language tours will also be offered.
Over the recent months the number of foreign visitors to the National Museum of Korea has increased considerably to up to 300 per day. The English tour program was initiated by the director Dr. Hongnam Kim in order to attract an even greater number of foreign visitors to the Museum. It is one of the Museum¡¯s mandates to thus raise the recognition of Korean arts and cultural artifacts in the global community. The beauty and history of Korean art will be conveyed through close examination.
Currently, the National Museum of Korea offers guided tours in Chinese during regular museum hours by request in addition to routinely scheduled docent-lead tours in Korean. Every Wednesday night when the Museum is open late, the Museum curators conduct in-depth talks with visitors on thematic topics. For visitors who are hearing impaired, the Museum will soon be offering sign language guided tours.
The National Museum of Korea is deeply committed to providing a rich tour program in order to meet every visitor¡¯s needs. The Museum¡¯s undertaking to offer diverse guided tour programs will serve as a catalyst for the advancement of service in all areas of the Museum.
