Iron Ingot
Vast quantities of iron ingots were manufactured in the Gaya region; this example comes from Dohang-ri Tomb 10 in Haman. The production of iron objects involves two primary processes: the smelting process, when iron is extracted from iron ore, and the fabrication process, when the extracted iron is shaped into the final object. Iron ingots represent the stage between these two processes, that is, after the iron has been extracted, but before it has been formed into an object. Iron ingots such as these could have been used to make iron farming tools and weapons (including armor, spearheads, swords, and arrowheads), and they were also a valuable item for trade.
