Polyhedron
Polyhedral
Polyhedral tools were made by removing flakes from the entire surface of a stone, resulting in a spheroid shape, roughly 5 to 10 cm in diameter. Such tools were used throughout the Paleolithic period for a variety of purposes, including as hammers, hunting stones, or pestles for grinding grains or other food materials. Most polyhedral tools from the Korean peninsula are relatively large in size, and many of them, including this one, have surface scars where they were violently struck. For use in hunting, smaller versions of these tools may have been tied to ropes and swung like a lariat or bola.
