Uigwe for the Funeral of King Sukjong
This Uigwe records the work of the Directorate of the State Funeral, which was established on the day King Sukjong passed away. The directorate, along with the Directorate of the Royal Coffin Hall, and the Directorate of the Royal Tomb, superintended the king's funeral for about five months. The Directorate of the State Funeral managed the procession that transported the body to the royal tomb. The transportation of the large bier involved 216 bearers at a time, and bearers were changed six times during the journey.
