Jar, White Porcelain
White Porcelain Jar
By the fifteenth and sixteenth century, many large majestic jars, such as this one from Namdaemun-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, were being produced in Joseon, as if reflecting the vivacious spirit of the young dynasty. The imposing jar has a precise shape, with its center of weight in the swollen shoulder. With the slightly flared mouth, the jar represents the typical form of large jars from the early Joseon period.
