This is a bronze mirror containing the shapes of the four deities, namely, the Blue Dragon, White Tiger, Red Phoenix, and Black Tortoise. The decorative designs are divided into the thin-line type and the embossed-design type. Many of the latter type display six animals between six knobs. This mirror displays six animals surrounded by Chinese characters and scroll designs. Bronze mirrors such as this were popular during the East Han Dynasty of China.
