This prunus vase is presumed to have been produced in the Jizhou Kiln in Jiangxi Province, China. After black glaze was thickly applied to the entire vase, a lotus-patterned band was engraved on the shoulder and the lower part of the body. The whole body is covered with check patterns engraved with peony scroll designs. The sgraffito technique was used to scratch out the remainder, leaving only the patterns.
