This small gourd-shaped bottle is believed to have been used to contain cosmetics. Characterized by a slightly elongated upper section, this form emerged in the 13th century. The chrysanthemum design or fish roe design inside the circle of the bottle-guard was also common during that time. The space within the vessel (shown below) is decorated with a reversely inlaid scroll design, while the top and bottom of the space are encircled with a lotus-petal design.
