Patterns of clouds and dragons are inlaid into the top of the lid. The characters "尙藥局" (referring to the office in charge of preparing medication for the royal family) are inscribed. It is presumed that the bowl was used to hold medicinal preparations. It provides a sense of the dignity of objects used in the royal palace.
