Groups of fish are swimming. The naturalistic brush strokes, simple colors, and pale blue background all contribute to a leisurely atmosphere. Little is known about the painter Kim In-gwan (金仁寬, dates unknown) beyond that he was active as a court painter in the late Joseon dynasty. Kang Sehwang’s inscription at the right indicates that Kim was renowned for painting fish.
