This ritual vessel, called a “bo” in Korean, was used to hold rice and millet. According to Jegi doseol (Explanatory Diagrams of Ritual Vessels), a bo was a metal vessel that usually had a rectangular body with a beast-shaped ornament and was decorated with lightning and wave designs. However, the decorative design is greatly simplified on this particular vessel. Notably, the simple yet effective lightning and wave designs were created by using the pigment of iron underglaze.
